March Blog 2026

I love springtime in Nashville! The colors in my yard begin to pop, reminding me that no matter how difficult a winter can be, under the ice, the flowers are waiting to burst.

As we move into the equinox on March 26th, which marks a balance of light and dark, we feel a sense of renewal and freshness. It’s a time to emerge from winter’s hibernation of stillness and warmth, and move toward lighter eating and more movement.

In Macrobiotic living, we respect the seasons and support the physical and mental changes they influence. Springtime marks a reboot for the liver and gallbladder. Lighter cooking and liver-appropriate food groups are essential. Begin using stimulating superfoods for the liver, such as lemon, dark greens, bitter greens, and daikon, both dried and fresh, to help cleanse the gallbladder.  It will help move stuckness, mucus, and fogginess from the body and the brain.

This is the time of year to prepare the soil and plant seeds. Nature supports the tilling of the ground and the sprouting of plants. In the same way, your body and brain feel the urge to move and to create. Learn to read and understand your body as it moves from season to season

At this month’s cooking class, I will be discussing and demonstrating spring food combining, cooking methods, and superfoods needed to jump-start physical and mental “spring cleaning”.

We will begin class with juicing. As you enjoy your juice, I will identify risk factors to help detect liver/gallbladder symptoms. I will demonstrate how to prepare a menu that will lift and move toxic loads accumulated during the winter months.

Join us on Saturday, March 21st at 9:30 am CT for an introduction to keeping the liver healthy and happy!

Why do you come to class?
“The cooking classes keep me inspired as I add to my collection of healthy recipes.”
” Virginia does an excellent job in explaining the ‘why’ for each dish she demonstrates, and for me, that’s important to keep me on track.”
“I don’t have to cook! And the food is always delicious!”

With the seasonal intention in mind, our meal delivery at Mobile Macro Meal Club also focuses on providing palate-pleasing macrobiotic-vegan dishes that support the liver and gallbladder. Twice a week, you have the opportunity to have a seasonally balanced, anti-inflammatory, and digestive-friendly meal that you can trust and enjoy, delivered to your door.

Why do you participants participate in the meal Club
“Two times per week, I know I am getting a healthy meal I don’t have to think about.”
” Thank you for all the effort and knowledge you put into the meals!”

My best,
Virginia
