March 2025

The beautiful yellow Daffodils in my garden always make me smile to know that the warm weather is not far behind. The other reminder is every March, I participate in the Holistic Holiday at Sea vegan cruise. It’s been a work vacation for me for the last 20 sailings. I will post some highlights on the You Can Heal You Facebook and Instagram.

Between the speakers, the cooking classes, the foods, and the port-of-calls, seven days go by quickly. It is inspiring to come together as a community with like-minded health goals. Health should not be a drudgery but a privilege. It should be celebrated. The opportunity to learn to manage instead of being a victim of your body is a huge blessing.

One of the activities on the cruise is the day that approximately 15 people share their recovery stories. The common thread was; that they understood their diagnosis but questioned and did further research, were not satisfied with the medical protocol being presented (usually with no other options), investigated other non-invasive more natural methods of treatment, took a leap of faith and dedicated daily rituals to create the positive outcome. There they were, all of them beating the odds to what they were told as truth, they now were living a new truth.

Knowledge is power! I know for me the more I learned how my body responded to stress and illness, the better manager I became to set myself up for healing. One of the health truths I learned early on was the importance of respecting the laws of nature. Everything we do with our lifestyle is in order to balance our environment, whether we are aware of it or not.

In Chinese medicine, we learn that by “feeding” ourselves according to the seasons, health is better managed. For example, the liver and gallbladder are rebooted during the spring season, therefore the focus becomes on cleansing, balancing, and sustaining the two organs function. This will help your body lighten up from the winter’s heavier eating and will help release stagnant energy.

This Saturday’s cooking class will include a lecture and Q&A on liver and gallbladder care. I will focus on the physical symptoms and emotional signs to notice. You will also go home with ideas and protocols you can instigate in the next few months to cleanse and energize.

Join us this Saturday, March 22nd at 9:30 am CT for a delicious seasonal meal focused on making the liver happy inspired by the cruise recipes.
