January 2025

It’s 2025! This is a significant year for me and my family because we put together a time capsule in 1999, to be opened in 2025. I think back and remember the excitement around deciding what to put in. It will be significant to see what we thought was important and valuable. Looking back on the last 25 years, there are three significant personal revelations.

Number one and foremost for me is the importance of sustaining good health. After getting my health crisis wake-up call in my 20s, the quality of my health has been the focus and motivation from which to live my life. By learning to manage my health instead of an illness or symptoms, I have thrived, not just survived. Proof is the opportunity to live a vibrant life and having experienced birthing a daughter and son who now have their own daughters. A dream that, medically, I was told would not happen.

The time and effort it took to learn my body signals and discover my health code not only helped me heal two incurable conditions but also, throughout the years, has alleviated me from unwanted mysterious symptoms that would have ordinarily led me to get caught up in the disease FINDING trap.

I have learned and proven that my body is a self-regenerating machine that will self-regulate and work properly when adequately provided with the correct raw materials and programming…and that there is always a probable cause. I will speak on how to identify biomarkers to help discover your health code at the Winter Macrobiotic Conference

Number two is the importance of being present and observant. Only then can we really “know” and understand ourselves from the inside out. Today, with all the technology, we tend to live outside ourselves. Our eyes and our brain are the most exhausted part of our body. Why? Because we are always on our devices. We don’t “stare out into space” anymore; we don’t daydream, and we don’t wonder or try to figure something out because we can have answers with one push of a button. The saying is, if you don’t use it, you lose it. The frontal lobe is considered the decision-making and problem-solving function of our brain. If you are always going to Siri to ask, then that frontal lobe has very little activity. This robs the ability to stimulate thinking, sharpen intuition, or trust our “gut feeling.”

Number three is movement and breathing. Who would have thought that 25 years later, we would have to teach the importance of these two actions? Last year, the Annals of Internal Medicine published a study of 8,000 adults that showed an association between prolonged sitting and a risk of early death from any cause. (People who sat for no more than 30 minutes at a time had the lowest risk in that study.) Other research has linked prolonged sitting or other sedentary behavior to diabetes, poor heart health, weight gain, depression, dementia, and multiple cancers. Something as simple as walking 30 minutes a day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fluids and weight, help reduce stress and anxiety, and improve mood. Going to a gym is okay, but being outside with nature is the key.

Earthing is a real benefit. It is the practice of connecting to the earth’s electrical charge. It’s best felt when you can be barefoot on the grass, weather permitting. Simply breathing deeply while you walk and being present with your breathing and surroundings will adjust your eyesight by relaxing the optic nerve, relaxing the vagus nerve, and balancing cortisol levels, all leading to overall well-being! This exercise, of course, should be done while devices are put away.

This year is predicted to be the year of transformation and spiritual awakening. In this month’s cooking class, I will discuss the importance of intermittent eating, fasting, and proper movement for your body type. The menu will be a cleansing menu to jump-start your health-focus year!

This year, invest in your most valuable asset- YOUR HEALH. Join us on Saturday, January 18th at 9:30 am CST for a delicious healing lunch, cooking demonstration, and Q&A.
