May, the last month of the spring season, means we are still highlighting springtime.

You can enjoy more outdoor activities as the days get warmer and longer–the benefits are many.

Pick the cooler time of day and allow the sun to nourish your skin by providing vitamin D. Let the air purify your lungs with fresh oxygen instead of recycled stagnant indoor air. Take your shoes off, and walk around in the morning dew, awakening your energy.

These activities are simple and minor but evoke great health benefits. For example, 8 to 10 minutes of sun exposure at noon produces the recommended amount of vitamin D. Circulating fresh air in the lungs helps with lung function, blood circulation, and balances heart palpitations. Your bare feet touching the earth is a great way to get grounded and reconnected. The negative ions in the grass and water work to clear meridian channels. However, this fantastic effect can only be felt on dewy grass, not rained-soaked grass.

As we grab the last few weeks of spring, there is still time to ride the seasonal energy wave and clear out our livers, which are activated during this time of year. 

How do you know if you need to do a liver cleanse along with your spring house cleaning? 

In the same way, spring cleaning involves decluttering and getting rid of what you no longer use or need; in the same way, your liver needs to get rid of excess and stagnation.

If you feel irritable, frustrated, or angry,  it’s time to clean out your liver. If you are constipated, your eating patterns are off, and you get bloated quickly, it’s time to clean out your liver. If you are having trouble sleeping and/or waking up between 1 and 2 in the morning, it’s time to clean out your liver.

Here is a brief list of simple adjustments to make:

– drink lemon water

– increase leafy greens, both cooked and raw

– juice greens 1x/day

– drink dandelion tea 1 to 2x/a day

– DO NOT eat 3 hours before bedtime- one of the biggest causes of liver congestion

When the liver function is optimal, you will metabolize vitamin D effectively, your blood oxygen will improve, and you will feel more patient.
